Drama Workshop

Amanda has been running and facilitating drama groups and sessions for 25 years.

She has worked for charities, special needs arts organisations and schools creating and directing work, which is often pioneering in its nature.

Current Work:

Currently Amanda is a Lead Facilitator alongside the actress Jackie Phillips on the ground-breaking “Poetry Roadshow” Project being run by Seven Stories as part of the Arts Council’s Cultural Hubs project. The idea is to inspire children’s creativity in poetry-writing through drama-based games and activities. This project is still in its infancy but will soon flower into the creation of an hour-long performance ‘template’ with the help of the children’s input and evaluations, to be toured to a variety of settings and schools around the Durham area.

Amanda also currently runs the Heaton-based young peoples’ drama group Sit ‘n’ Fidget, working largely through improvisation on a wide variety of performance ideas, from Shakespeare’s tragedies to conversations on the ‘park bench’.

Past Work:

Some examples of innovative and inspirational past projects are listed below:

This innovative project brought together artists of different disciplines to work with school children in Wales to create, produce and perform some original music theatre pieces entirely from their own ideas.

‘Children’s World’ Charity, Glastonbury
